For this second release from Scotland’s TRIBAL WAVES label owner ZUNI has chosen one of his own compositions "Hoodwinked" for the remix treatment by KEVIN GORMAN (GIGOLO, MIKROWAVE).
First up we have the original ZUNI mix, a ten minute ode to dislocation. Filled with stuttering, syncopated percussion which is underpinned with solid, spacious bass and a bizarre acid style lead line filtering in and out. This is definitely a track for the deeper moments in the night.
On the remix front, we have Three contributions from KEVIN GORMAN – two distinctly different tracks and a 'beats only' edit.
The first mix(*wave one) is perfect deep club material, organic sounding synths fighting for space behind the interference and percussion. While the second mix(wave two) is a tech house builder with some deftly stark synth work, turning the original into a more old school sounding dance floor track. A '*beats' version of the first mix(*wave one) rounds off this release, giving the DJ a starker more stripped down version of the track to work with.
